I was at a job fair and was meeting one of the recruiters. I extended my hand to shake his and he didn't extend his back....talk about awkward!

I decided to not take the temp job because it actually isn't really the industry I want to go into. It is the field that I used to work in and that I wanted to get away from. But---great news....I got an interview with the city to work at the wastewater treatment plant! That would be such a sweet gig--no commute, good benefits, and steady hours. If you are the praying type, say a few for me please!

I knew someone who had CPS show up for a well check when her child showed up at school with a sweater that was slightly damp. When she took her kid's sweater out she thought it was dry, but its hard to tell when its warm. Yeah, that was fun.

Well. No Tesla for me. They told me I wasn't the right candidate because I didn't have enough managerial experience. But--they did offer me a part time temporary position in another department. I don't know if I should take it. It's only a 6 week job. But it would probably at least get me in the door with the company.

In response to a confession. If you take the classes then you should know that you are not responsible for collecting evidence. Call and ask for a child week-check. I have a client that I do that with every three months because her parenting is severely lacking. She’s not abusive but forgets basic things like bathing baby and cleaning the home. Your situation sounds very stressful. Hugs to you.

If you were a receptionist, and I handed you a large envelope that was marked "Return to Client"... what would you do with it? Would you.. I dunno, let's say.... return it to the client? Or, would you do what Elderly CW did, and put it on a fucking shelf for A FUCKING YEAR!!!!??!?!?!?!!! *deep breath, serenity now* .. Me: "I think we'll need a mailing box this year to return [client's] source documents. Can you get me one please?" Elderly CW: "Should we put this big packet in it, too?" Me: "What big packet?" Elderly CW: "This one out here on the shelf marked *puts on glasses, reading slowly* 'Return to client.'" Me, walking over to see WTF: "[elderly cw name], that is last year's stuff! Why is it still sitting there?" Elderly CW: "Oh, was I supposed to mail this back to him?" *rage* I might just high-speed crab-crawl ala Korean horror films over to her and rage-choke her til her eyeballs bug out. Feelin' mighty stabby, friends and neighbors, mighty effing stabby.

That job I applied to that I am underqualified for? They just called me up for an interview. And they didn't post the salary. So I checked on Glassdoor to see what I'd be worth in this industry. Ho. Lee. Shit. I can get myself my Tesla if I get this job!

In response to a confession. OMG I feel your pain. My CW does this also, along with long, loud, heavy sighs - as she furiously bangs on her laptop with her clicky fake nails and 20 silver bracelets/bangles clacking against the desk.

Here's the evidence I have so far- 1. I heard her raise her voice to him to stop hitting his teacher (pretty normal), 2. I saw her hold his hand back from hitting her (normal), 3. I thought I saw her hand flinch in an impulse to hit him WHILE HE WAS HITTING HER but SHE DIDN'T. IT WAS SUCH A SMALL GESTURE THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE CAUGHT IT. All I have so far is a vibe that she is in a very challenging situation and is not the most skilled parent.. Kids often act out when they are neglected and abused, but kids with moderate autism and language disorders, like my student, act out because their communication skills are low, which his are, and this child is definitely in the wrong placement. I have an emergency meeting set up to discuss that. Where I live is probably very different from where you live. It's rough here. I work in special education at a Title I school. I have reported to CPS before. I take the same class you take on recognizing abuse and neglect, every year.
